The Siemens B1515 is a 15A tandem (duplex) circuit breaker designed to provide two independent 1-pole overcurrent protection circuits in a single 1-inch breaker slot. As part of Siemens’ B-type breaker family, the B1515 is a space-saving solution that allows panelboard capacity to be increased without expanding the panel itself—ideal for residential and light commercial applications where branch circuits need to be added to a fully loaded panel. Each pole operates independently at 15 amps, 120 VAC, sharing a common molded case but offering separate thermal-magnetic trip mechanisms for each circuit.
Electrically, the B1515 is rated for {aic rating} (Amp Interrupting Capacity) and uses Siemens’ thermal-magnetic trip technology for reliable protection against both overload and short-circuit conditions. Because it is a non-common-trip breaker, each leg of the duplex breaker can trip independently, which is important when protecting two separate circuits from overloads without affecting the other. The B1515 is UL 489 listed and designed to fit Siemens load centers that accept tandem breakers, typically those labeled to accept “CTL” (circuit total limiting) tandem models.
The B1515 is frequently used in residential panel retrofits, service upgrades, or load expansions, especially when the existing panelboard is at or near capacity. Its compact design occupies a single breaker slot while delivering protection for two circuits, making it a practical choice for electricians managing tight panel space. Siemens tandem breakers like the B1515 include rejection features to prevent improper use in non-CTL panels, ensuring safe and code-compliant installations.
