The Eaton KLU-1000 is a Class L, time-delay, current-limiting fuse designed for high-capacity protection of low-voltage distribution systems. Rated at 1000 amps and 600 VAC, this fuse is part of the Bussmann series, a product family that has been a cornerstone of industrial electrical protection for decades. Originally developed by Bussmann, a respected brand in the fuse and circuit protection space, the KLU series was integrated into Eaton’s power distribution portfolio following Eaton’s acquisition of Cooper Industries. The KLU-1000 is commonly used in main switchboards, feeder circuits, and large motor loads, where its high interrupting capacity and time-delay characteristics are essential for protecting against short circuits and overloads.

Electrically, the KLU-1000 provides current-limiting performance that significantly reduces the peak let-through energy (I²t) during fault conditions, helping to protect downstream equipment and minimize arc flash energy. The fuse has a 200 kA interrupting rating at 600 VAC, making it suitable for applications where high available fault currents are present. Its time-delay feature allows it to withstand inrush currents caused by motor starting and transformer energization-typically providing a minimum 5-second delay at 500% of rated current. This ensures system coordination and helps prevent nuisance trips during normal operating conditions.
